Hammock Lakes Park also offers lots of opportunities for outdoor play. The 12-acre park features mulched and paved walking/ jogging trails, volleyball and basketball courts, a children’s playground, plenty of open green space for running around, and a wetland preservation area.
Considered by many in the area to be “a hidden jewel,” Hammock Lakes Park has a reputation for being quiet, secluded, and the perfect place for an afternoon picnic, thanks to covered pavilions and charcoal grills.
However, for the best the outdoors has to offer, Wickham Park is definitely the place to visit. Situated over 391 acres, the park includes a campground, two swimming lakes (unguarded), archery ranges, three fishing lakes, horseshoe pits, multipurpose fields, an 18-hold disc golf course, nature trails, dog park, children’s playground, and an amphitheater.
